Mumbai is set to witness a massive infrastructure overhaul, with five major projects slated to be completed and opened by the end of this year, while an additional four are projected to be operational by 2025. These initiatives are expected to significantly enhance the city’s transportation network, connectivity, and quality of life for its residents.
Among the key projects set for completion in 2024 are the much-anticipated Mumbai Metro lines, which will expand the metro’s reach to previously underserved areas. The Coastal Road project is also in its final stages, offering a new and faster route along the western coastline, aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in the city’s busiest regions. In addition, the Sewri-Worli Connector and the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link, touted as India’s longest sea bridge, are also expected to be inaugurated this year.
Looking ahead to 2025, four more ambitious projects will continue to reshape the city’s landscape. The ongoing Navi Mumbai International Airport is expected to be fully operational by then, drastically improving air travel for Mumbai’s growing population. Other significant ventures include the Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor and extensions to existing metro lines.
These projects, once completed, are expected to boost Mumbai’s economic growth, reduce travel times, and offer better living conditions for millions of residents.
