Date:

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train project has achieved significant milestones, with 386 km of pier foundation and 272 km of viaduct completed out of the total 508 km as of February 27, 2025. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, during his visit to Ahmedabad on March 1, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress.

Pier foundation work, which involves the excavation and installation of cylindrical columns, has seen substantial advancement, along with 305 km of girder casting and 112 km of track bed completion. Additionally, 130 km of noise barriers have been installed to reduce environmental impact. Construction of seven mountain tunnels in Maharashtra’s Palghar district is underway using the New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM).

The National High-Speed Rail Corporation (NHSRCL) confirmed that overhead electrification work has begun in Gujarat, with track laying set to commence soon. The project spans 508 km, with 352 km in Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and 156 km in Maharashtra. Structural work for six out of eight stations in Gujarat is complete, while construction on three elevated stations in Maharashtra progresses.

Furthermore, all 13 river bridges along the route have been completed, covering key districts such as Valsad, Navsari, Kheda, and Vadodara. Officials also reported that six steel bridges and five prestressed concrete bridges at road and highway crossings are ready. The project remains on track to revolutionize high-speed rail travel in India.
