The unveiling ceremony was led by Managing Director and CEO Takemichi Hirakawa, along with senior officials, at an event on Wednesday.

The SK80 Excavator, an eight-tonne mid-segment machine, is the company’s first major step towards indigenisation, featuring over 70% locally sourced components. The excavator was manufactured at Kobelco’s state-of-the-art facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, situated approximately 110 km from Chennai.

“We have been delivering high-quality excavators to Indian customers for 17 years. Our latest product reflects our commitment to the ‘Make in India’ initiative and positions India as a key manufacturing hub for both domestic and export markets,” Hirakawa stated, highlighting an investment of ₹75 crore in recent developments.

Equipped with advanced hydraulics, cutting-edge technology, and superior fuel efficiency, the SK80 Excavator is designed for diverse tasks, including digging, lifting, and grading. With this launch, Kobelco reaffirms its focus on catering to India’s growing infrastructure needs while leveraging global opportunities.
