Kerala Secures Rs 6,700 Crore for Road Infrastructure Projects

The Union government has approved ₹6,700 crore for 14 road development projects in Kerala, following a meeting between Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari. This funding will support key infrastructure initiatives, including the Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road and the Palakkad-Kozhikode Greenfield Highway. Additionally, a 380-meter stretch in the Malappuram-Kooriyad section of NH 66 will be rebuilt as a viaduct at the contractor’s expense due to prior damage.

The state is also set to receive ₹151 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme. Projects like the Kollam-Senkotta Greenfield (NH 744) and the Mysuru-Malappuram Economic Corridor are under consideration, with approvals expected in the coming months. These developments aim to enhance connectivity and boost economic growth in the region.
