JSW Infrastructure Ltd has secured a ₹740 crore contract from the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port Authority to reconstruct Berth 8 and mechanise both Berths 7 & 8 at Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Dock. The project is structured under a DBFOT (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Transfer) model and secured a 30-year concession, signalling JSW’s long-term commitment to eastern India’s container infrastructure.
Over the next two years, JSW will invest ₹740 crore to enhance port efficiency, with. The move diversifies JSW’s cargo operations—traditionally heavy in dry and liquid bulk—into container handling, reinforcing its pan-India expansion strategy.
Post-completion, the new berths are expected to position JSW Infrastructure close to 1 million TEUs in container-handling capacity, complementing its western coast presence and boosting its national logistics portfolio. The share price responded positively, rising ~2%, reflecting investor confidence.
With nine Indian ports and a growing terminal network—including greenfield sites—JSW is poised to challenge container majors and support Kolkata’s crucial role in eastern trade corridors.
