Jaipur: State Grants Industry Status to Logistics Sector to Boost Growth

Date:

Jaipur: In a significant move to boost economic growth and attract investment, the Rajasthan government has granted industry status to the logistics sector. The decision aims to create an investor-friendly regulatory environment, streamline operations, and enhance the ease of doing business.

The state cabinet approved the new policy on Tuesday, focusing on developing logistics infrastructure, improving multi-modal connectivity, and encouraging private investment. This initiative is expected to strengthen the sector’s capabilities and improve connectivity to local and regional markets.

“The policy will drive economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability. Given the sector’s anchoring role, the government has decided to extend industry status to the sector,” said Ajitabh Sharma, Principal Secretary (Industries).

As part of the initiative, the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation (RIICO) will allocate land for logistics development in its new industrial zones. Additionally, the department is expected to introduce a scheme to regularize existing warehouses across the state.

The move is anticipated to attract major investments, create job opportunities, and make Rajasthan a key logistics hub in northern India, significantly improving the state’s supply chain efficiency.
