India’s First Green Classroom

Date:

This is a bright moment for sustainable architecture. The University of East London, along with partners in India, has used Sugarcrete bricks, made from sugarcane waste, to build a classroom at Panchsheel Inter College in Uttar Pradesh. This new bio-block is low in carbon and strong in performance. It keeps classrooms cool and peaceful and it is sturdy in fire and sound tests.

This classroom is more than bricks. It is a living lab where students learn about sustainability from inside the building. The project supports local factories, uses home-grown materials and inspires green futures.

We cheer this step toward cleaner, smarter schools that serve both students and the planet well.
