Gujarat CM Approves ₹145 Crore for Saraswati River Bridge Construction

Date:

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved ₹145 crore for constructing a four-lane bridge over the Saraswati River in Sidhpur taluka, Patan district. The new bridge, part of the Mehsana-Unjha-Sidhpur-Palanpur State Highway, will replace the existing two-lane bridge built in 1959 and address the region’s rising traffic demands.

Aligned with the state’s six-lane road development plan, the four-lane bridge will be constructed adjacent to the old structure, ensuring enhanced connectivity and safer travel in North Gujarat. This initiative is part of CM Patel’s broader vision to develop high-speed road corridors and improve infrastructure across the state.

An official statement emphasized the bridge’s role in accelerating regional growth and improving travel efficiency. Alongside the bridge project, the government highlighted Gujarat’s strides in urban development under the Smart Cities Mission, spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Dahod district has seen transformative developments, including a ₹121 crore Integrated Command and Control Centre and the ₹120.87 crore revitalization of Chhab Lake. Dahod, included in the third round of the Smart Cities Mission, is now managed by Dahod Smart City Development Limited (DSCDL), driving urban growth for the largely tribal region.
