Ghatkopar Station’s Modern Revamp to Be Completed by 2027

Date:

The Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation (MRVC) aims to complete the modernization of Ghatkopar station by 2027, with Phase II of the project already underway. Phase I, commissioned in December 2023, has delivered several commuter-friendly upgrades, marking a significant milestone in the station’s transformation.

According to MRVC’s Chief Public Relations Officer Sunil Udasi, the project reflects the corporation’s dedication to creating a model railway station equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure. Phase II includes the construction of two 12-meter-wide and 75-meter-long Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) at the CSMT and Kalyan ends, along with an 8-meter-wide, 300-meter-long elevated west deck above platform 1. Work on the elevated deck has commenced, with partial site clearance and pile foundation progress for the deck columns already achieved.

Additional features include a 4-meter-wide skywalk linking platform 4 to a municipal FOB, service buildings for GRP and electrical rooms, and a two-story structure on the east side with ticket counters and office spaces. The station will also be equipped with six staircases, four double-discharge staircases, seven escalators, and three lifts.

Udasi confirmed that foundational work for the south-end FOB is complete, with column and cross-beam fabrication in progress.
