India’s defence sector is witnessing a paradigm shift with the rise of indigenous defence tech startups, playing a crucial role in reducing import dependency and strengthening national security. Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, several startups are innovating in drone technology, cybersecurity, AI-driven surveillance, and advanced combat systems.

Startups like ideaForge, BotLab Dynamics, and NewSpace Research & Technologies have pioneered UAV and drone innovations, enhancing real-time reconnaissance capabilities for the Indian armed forces. Tonbo Imaging and CRON Systems specialize in AI-powered border security and surveillance, providing cutting-edge technology to combat potential threats.

In naval defence, Sagar Defence Engineering is developing autonomous marine solutions, while Planys Technologies focuses on underwater robotics for critical inspections. Big Bang Boom Solutions and Optimized Electrotech contribute to smart defence systems and advanced imaging technologies, ensuring superior situational awareness.

These startups, backed by DRDO, iDEX, and private investments, are instrumental in India’s defence modernization efforts. With growing government support, India is on track to becoming a global defence technology hub, achieving strategic self-reliance and reinforcing its position as a formidable military power.
