Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan Undertakes Over 600 Projects in Rural Delhi

Date:

Under the DDA’s Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan (DGA), over 600 development projects have been initiated in Delhi’s villages within seven months of its launch. The initiative, with a budget of ₹960 crore, aims to enhance infrastructure and civic amenities across rural areas.

A total of 642 projects, including parks, roads, sewage systems, and water bodies, are underway. Of these, 111 projects have been completed, 296 are nearing completion, and 118 are in early stages. Additionally, 117 projects remain in the pre-implementation phase.

The DGA also focuses on expanding piped gas connections through Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). Gas supply has been established in 93 of the 200 identified villages, with plans to extend to 43 more by December 2024 and cover all villages by March 2025. This work is distinct from the ₹960 crore allocated for other development activities.

The projects were selected after consultations with villagers, facilitated by district magistrates, to ensure local needs were prioritized. Key areas of focus include creating public spaces like parks and cremation grounds, improving transport infrastructure, and enhancing water management systems. The initiative is expected to significantly improve the quality of life in rural Delhi.
