Delhi Enforces Strict GRAP Stage 3 Measures as Air Pollution Crisis Intensifies

On November 16, 2024, the Delhi government implemented stringent measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 3 to combat severe air pollution. Restrictions on BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles led to the Delhi Traffic Police issuing approximately 550 challans on the first day alone. The National Green Tribunal also highlighted a ₹5.85 crore fine imposed for violations, emphasizing the urgency to address Delhi’s hazardous air quality. Experts are urging more comprehensive actions to improve the capital’s air.
