Contegra Construction has successfully completed a 611,000-square-foot warehouse for McLeod Express in Decatur, Illinois, marking a significant boost to the region’s logistics infrastructure. The facility, situated on a 37-acre site at 3960 East Mound Road, becomes McLeod’s second major warehouse in the area, expanding its capacity beyond the 100,000-square-foot building it has operated since 2001.
The warehouse is constructed using tilt-up concrete panels and includes modern industrial features such as a 36-foot clear height, energy-efficient LED lighting and a durable TPO roof. To support heavy logistics activity, the building is equipped with 56 dock doors, including four drive-through doors, along with dock levelers and truck restraints to ensure safe and efficient loading operations. The project also includes a two-story, 6,000-square-foot office space.
Designed to accommodate large-scale freight movement, the site offers parking for 63 cars and 64 trucks. Its strategic location—one mile from the I-72 interchange and three miles from the Midwest Inland Port—positions it as a central hub for distribution across Central Illinois.
The completion of this warehouse is expected to enhance McLeod Express’s operational efficiency and meet the region’s rising demand for warehousing and transportation services.
