Centre Approves Rs 327 Crore Navalgund Bypass to Ease Traffic

Date:

The Central Government has approved the construction of a 10.5 km bypass on the Hubballi-Solapur highway near Navalgund in Dharwad district, Karnataka, at a cost of ₹327 crore. This project aims to alleviate traffic congestion in Navalgund town, where all highway traffic currently passes through. Union Minister and Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi advocated for the proposal, writing to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to expedite its approval.

The alignment committee has approved the proposal and the detailed project report (DPR), which was prepared after consulting locals and considering potential monsoon-related flooding impacts on Bennehalla stream and nearby agricultural areas. With central approval secured, the state government will now proceed to invite tenders and commence the project.
