In a significant move to upgrade Delhi’s urban infrastructure, the Central Government has sanctioned ₹821.26 crore under the AMRUT 2.0 (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme. The funding aims to enhance water supply and sewage management across the capital, ensuring better living standards and urban resilience.

Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, confirmed the development, stating that the approved projects will address long-standing infrastructure gaps and support Delhi’s growing urban needs. Key allocations include ₹401.53 crore for water supply improvements and ₹419.73 crore for sewage and septage management.

This initiative is part of the Centre’s broader mission to empower urban local bodies and create smart, sustainable cities. The Delhi Jal Board will oversee implementation, with a focus on expanding piped water access and improving sewage treatment capacity across underserved zones.

Officials emphasized that the project aligns with the government’s vision of “Ease of Living” and will benefit lakhs of residents. The sanctioned funds also reflect the Centre’s commitment to fast-tracking urban transformation through targeted investment in critical infrastructure.
