US-based AI company Anthropic has appointed former Microsoft executive Eric Boyd to lead its infrastructure division, marking a major step in scaling its artificial intelligence capabilities amid surging demand.
Boyd, who spent nearly two decades at Microsoft and most recently served as President of AI Platforms, will now oversee the development and expansion of Anthropic’s infrastructure systems. His experience includes leading large-scale AI and cloud initiatives, including work on Azure AI and hosting advanced language models.
The move comes as Anthropic experiences rapid growth in its AI services, with increasing enterprise adoption and rising demand for its models like Claude. To support this expansion, the company is investing heavily in compute infrastructure, scalability, and deployment systems, which are critical for training and running large AI models efficiently.
Industry experts note that the hiring highlights a broader shift in the AI race—from just building powerful models to developing robust infrastructure capable of supporting them at scale. Boyd’s deep expertise in cloud engineering and AI platforms is expected to strengthen Anthropic’s operational capabilities.
The appointment also underscores intensifying competition among AI firms to attract top talent as they scale globally.
