Air India Partners with Bengaluru Airport City to Establish Aircraft Maintenance Training Facility

Date:

Air India has entered into an agreement with Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), a subsidiary of Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), to develop a state-of-the-art Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (AME) training facility. The purpose-built campus, spanning 86,000 sq. ft., will be located at Bengaluru Airport City and is expected to become operational by mid-2026.

The facility will house modern classrooms, cutting-edge laboratories, and a team of qualified trainers to deliver hands-on training for the next generation of aircraft maintenance engineers. It will also include a Basic Maintenance Training Organisation (BMTO), offering an integrated two-plus-two-year AME programme certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

This initiative aims to support Air India’s fleet expansion plans by cultivating a highly skilled workforce for aircraft maintenance and engineering operations. The programme is designed to provide practical, industry-aligned training while meeting Air India’s specific requirements.

The BMTO is a significant step in creating a future-ready aviation ecosystem in India, addressing the growing demand for qualified aircraft maintenance engineers. As Air India continues its transformation journey, this partnership will play a crucial role in fostering career opportunities and enhancing the aviation industry’s operational excellence.
