Bonner Facility Closure: 100 Jobs at Risk as UFP Edge Shuts Down

Date:

UFP Industries has confirmed that its UFP Edge manufacturing facility in Bonner, Montana—operational for five years—is set to permanently close on September 27, 2025, affecting approximately 100–104 employees. The facility specialized in siding, trim, and interior accent products, operating in two industrial park buildings east of Missoula.

In a statement, spokesperson Abby Mitch acknowledged the difficult decision, adding: “We spent five years working together to make it work, but big‑picture realities beyond our control made consolidation unavoidable.” She emphasized that internal candidates will be prioritized for open roles across UFP’s network of more than 200 locations worldwide.

To support displaced workers, the Montana Department of Labor & Industry (MTDLI) will host a rapid response event on August 6 at 9 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Missoula. Representatives will assist affected employees and families with Unemployment Insurance filings, retraining options, job connections, and benefits eligibility guidance under federal WARN Act and state law.

This closure follows a broader trend of manufacturing decline in western Montana, including recent shutdowns at Pyramid Mountain Lumber and Roseburg Forest Products—each costing around 100–150 jobs. As Montana continues to attract new investments elsewhere, the impact of UFP Edge’s exit serves as a stark reminder of persistent challenges in sustaining local industry.
