Kolkata Metro’s Growth: IIM-Calcutta to Get Purple Line Connectivity

Date:

Kolkata Metro is set to expand its Purple Line, extending it to IIM-Calcutta, significantly improving connectivity in the region. The upcoming extension aims to ease travel for students, faculty, and residents in the Joka area.

The project will enhance metro access to one of India’s premier business schools and nearby residential zones, reducing travel time and decongesting roads. Currently, the Purple Line runs from Joka to Taratala, and this extension will take it further towards IIM-Calcutta.

With construction expected to begin soon, authorities aim to complete the project within the next few years. This extension aligns with the city’s broader metro expansion plans, making Kolkata’s transport infrastructure more efficient and sustainable. The improved connectivity is expected to boost real estate development and commercial activity around IIM-Calcutta.

Residents and commuters eagerly await the expansion, which promises smoother and faster travel in South Kolkata.
