Nitin Gadkari Launches India’s First ‘Road Train’ for Long-Haul Transport

Date:

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has flagged off India’s first ‘Road Train,’ marking a significant step in revolutionizing the country’s logistics and freight transport system. Designed for long-haul transportation, this innovative vehicle consists of multiple trailers connected to a single truck, enhancing efficiency and reducing operational costs.

The introduction of the ‘Road Train’ is expected to ease freight movement, lower fuel consumption, and minimize carbon emissions, aligning with India’s vision of sustainable and cost-effective transportation. These high-capacity vehicles, already popular in countries like Australia and Canada, will boost logistics efficiency, particularly for industrial and agricultural sectors.

Gadkari emphasized the role of such innovations in improving supply chains, reducing road congestion, and supporting economic growth. The government is also working on upgrading road infrastructure to accommodate these large vehicles, ensuring safe and smooth transit.

With the launch of India’s first Road Train, the country moves closer to adopting advanced transport solutions, improving freight efficiency, and reducing logistics costs, ultimately benefiting businesses and consumers alike. This milestone underscores India’s commitment to modernizing its transport sector and embracing new-age mobility solutions.
