Why India’s Construction Equipment Sector Could Grow 9–12% in FY27

Date:

India’s construction equipment industry is showing renewed optimism for FY27 as stronger infrastructure spending and improving project execution create the potential for a sharper recovery.

After a challenging FY26, when domestic equipment sales were affected by slower infrastructure execution, higher equipment costs and financing pressures, the sector is now seeing signs of improving demand. Recent industry data also points to a strong rebound in equipment sales, suggesting that the prolonged slowdown may be easing.

Government capital expenditure is expected to remain a key growth driver. Roads, railways, metros, mining, waterways and rural infrastructure projects are likely to generate demand for excavators, loaders, cranes and other heavy machinery. The Centre’s ₹12.2 lakh crore infrastructure allocation for FY27 further strengthens the industry’s growth prospects.

The sector is also benefiting from India’s growing manufacturing and export capabilities. Indian-made construction equipment is increasingly reaching international markets, while stricter emission standards are encouraging manufacturers to develop more advanced and globally competitive machines.

However, the outlook is not without risks. Commodity prices, financing costs and delays in project execution could still affect purchasing decisions.

Overall, the expected 9–12% FY27 growth reflects renewed confidence that India’s infrastructure-led expansion can translate into stronger equipment demand and put the industry back on a higher-growth trajectory.
