Winvic Launches 250,000 ft² Warehouse Build at Rugby’s Coton Park

Date:

Winvic Construction has commenced a 60-week construction project to deliver a new 250,000 ft² single-storey warehouse at Coton Park in Rugby, part of the Midlands’ logistics hub known as the “Golden Triangle.” Commissioned by Newlands Developments, Winvic returns to this site following prior delivery of units on Plots 2 and 3.

The facility, featuring a structural steel multi-span portal frame and standing at 15 metres high, will incorporate 15,000 ft² of office space. It is being built to meet sustainability benchmarks, targeting BREEAM “Excellent” certification and an EPC rating of A/A+.

A notable highlight of the project’s early phase involved installing a former Ministry of Defence 34 metre tank bridge, using a 350-tonne crane to span a 457 mm high-pressure gas main—crucial to site access and operational integrity. To further mitigate risks around the gas infrastructure, Winvic and Cadent Gas are developing a Filcor (polystyrene) road that wraps around a 54 metre long, 4 m × 2 m culvert—an innovative alternative to traditional fill methods.

Danny Nelson, Managing Director of Industrial, Distribution & Logistics at Winvic, expressed pride in the long-standing partnership with Newlands and emphasized the collaborative approach to overcoming site challenges, reinforcing Winvic’s commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
