Winvic Construction has officially broken ground on a 250,000 sq ft single-storey warehouse in Coton Park, Rugby, launching a 60-week build programme on behalf of Newlands Developments. The project marks the next phase in the development of key distribution infrastructure in the Midlands’ so-called “Golden Triangle.”
The new facility will include approximately 15,000 sq ft of office space and will be built with a structural steel, multi-span portal frame, reaching a height of about 15 metres. It is being designed to the highest environmental and energy standards, aiming for BREEAM Excellent certification and an EPC rating of A or A+.
One of the more complex parts of the logistics came in the enabling works: Winvic has installed a 34-metre former Ministry of Defence (MoD) tank bridge using a 350-tonne crane, to span a 457mm high-pressure gas main, which is essential to provide safe access. Traditional road construction methods were ruled out due to the constraints posed by the gas main.
Danny Nelson, Managing Director of Industrial, Distribution and Logistics at Winvic, noted that working closely with partners to solve such technical challenges shows their commitment to safety, quality, and delivering what the client needs at Coton Park.
