Uttar Pradesh is rapidly transforming into India’s leading state in infrastructure development, driven by record-breaking investments in roadways, expressways, airports, and urban transport. According to the latest data from the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and state infrastructure reports, UP has outpaced all other states in project execution and fund utilization in the fiscal year 2024–25.
With ongoing mega-projects like the Ganga Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, and the upcoming Jewar International Airport, the state has become a model for accelerated infrastructure growth. Experts credit the streamlined policy environment, digital project monitoring, and robust public-private partnerships for the momentum.
“Infrastructure is the backbone of economic growth, and Uttar Pradesh is setting the benchmark for other states,” said Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, during a recent review meeting.
The Yogi Adityanath-led government has also prioritized urban development, launching smart city initiatives, metro rail expansions in Lucknow, Kanpur, and Agra, and large-scale housing projects under PMAY.
These developments not only boost connectivity and industrialization but are also expected to create over 10 lakh direct and indirect jobs in the next five years.
