Telangana’s Roads and Buildings Minister, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, has announced an ambitious ₹10,547-crore road development project aimed at transforming the state’s connectivity and infrastructure landscape.
The initiative involves the construction of 5,555 km of roads across 400 routes, divided into 32 packages, under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). Work on the project is expected to commence by the end of the year. The HAM model—already successful in several states—reduces initial government expenditure while ensuring high-quality, long-term maintenance and accountability from private developers.
Minister Venkat Reddy emphasized the project’s transparency and cost-effectiveness, stating that Telangana’s adoption of the HAM model would make it a frontrunner in infrastructure development nationwide. He added that the government is prioritizing both major and regional road connectivity to improve trade, transport, and rural access.
In a move to empower smaller players in the construction sector, the government has also cleared ₹100 crore worth of pending bills to facilitate the participation of small and medium contractors in upcoming tenders. The large-scale initiative is expected to create employment opportunities and boost Telangana’s economic growth through improved road infrastructure.
