Telangana Government Seeks Central Support for Electric Vehicle Fleet.

Date:

The Telangana State Government has taken a significant step towards promoting sustainable transportation by proposing an ambitious plan to convert the entire fleet of buses operated by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) into electric vehicles (EVs). This move aligns with the state’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and advancing green technology within the public transport sector.

Recognising the importance of this transition, the Telangana government has reached out to the Central Government, seeking financial and technical support to help realize this transformative initiative. The shift to electric buses will not only contribute to environmental conservation by curbing pollution but also improve the quality of public transportation for commuters, with quieter and more efficient buses.

The state aims to enhance its public transport infrastructure while simultaneously aligning with national goals of energy efficiency and emission reductions. With growing concerns over air quality and climate change, this project marks a crucial step in Telangana’s efforts to embrace a cleaner, greener future for its citizens.

The central government’s backing will be pivotal in overcoming the financial and logistical challenges of implementing such a large-scale electric vehicle program. This collaboration could set a precedent for other states to follow suit in adopting eco-friendly transport solutions.
