Tech & Transport: How e‑Trans 2025 Is Shaping Haryana’s Road Safety Future

Haryana Transport Minister Sh. Anil Vij inaugurated the two‑day e‑Trans 2025 workshop in Chandigarh, organized jointly by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways and the National Informatics Centre, to showcase the digital transformation of Haryana’s transport sector. Addressing delegates from 12 states and union territories, Vij emphasized the need for technology-driven efficiency, highlighting the focus on the “Four Es”: Education, Enforcement, Engineering and Environment & Emergency to curb rising road accidents.

Between January 1, 2023 and March 31, 2025, over 10 lakh accidents occurred nationally, with Haryana accounting for more than 23,000. Vij noted that the state aims to align with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047 by digitizing services and reducing corruption through automation. New initiatives launched include Aadhaar‑authenticated services, vehicle scrapping, automated testing stations, IDTRs, the e‑DAR portal, Sanjaya crash‑mapping and a cashless medical scheme providing up to ₹1.5 lakh for accident victims. V. Umashankar, Secretary of MoRTH, stressed that data and tech integration is crucial to halving road accidents by 2030 and simplifying citizen access through faceless services.
