Bengaluru-based startup Contineu is bringing a technological transformation to India’s construction sector by using real-time data and artificial intelligence to streamline quality control and safety inspections. The company, founded in 2023, equips workers with 360-degree cameras—often mounted on helmets—to capture site conditions digitally. AI algorithms then convert this visual information into 3D models, mapping them to floor plans and automatically flagging defects across over 150 categories.
By doing so, Contineu aims to reduce time lost in manual inspections and diminish costly rework. Even small errors—such as misaligned elevator openings or incorrect wall placements—can lead to serious structural issues, significant delays, and inflated costs. Rework typically contributes 5-7% of a project’s total cost, and Contineu believes better oversight could significantly improve developer margins.
Clients using the system are seeing measurable gains: defect detection is reportedly up to three times faster, and fewer people are needed for site walks and inspections. On average, site engineers save about five hours daily—time previously spent walking the site, collecting data, and processing it.
The startup has raised several crores in pre-seed and seed rounds, and is currently focused on expanding operations in major metropolitan regions like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. As it scales, Contineu also plans to broaden its scope into safety monitoring, progress tracking, and even international markets.
