In a significant boost to regional infrastructure, the Railway Board has approved a proposal for the construction of 63 road over bridges (ROBs) in the Sonepur division of the East Central Railway. The project, estimated at ₹40 crore, aims to improve safety, efficiency, and connectivity across the railway network in the region.
The initiative seeks to eliminate bottlenecks caused by level crossing gates, which frequently disrupt road traffic. By replacing level crossings with ROBs, the project will streamline road movement, reduce travel delays, and enhance overall safety for commuters and vehicles. The bridges will also help reduce accidents and ensure smoother traffic flow in areas heavily affected by railway crossings.
A detailed project report (DPR) is currently being prepared to expedite the implementation process. Authorities have assured that the DPR is progressing on schedule, with plans to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.
Once completed, the ROBs are expected to transform transportation infrastructure in the region, benefiting both local residents and businesses. This development underscores the government’s commitment to improving critical infrastructure and ensuring seamless integration of road and rail networks for sustainable growth.
