PM Modi Inaugurates Rs 1,200 Cr Terminal at Patna Airport

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 29, 2025 inaugurated the state-of-the-art terminal at Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna. Built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore, the new facility is designed to handle up to one crore passengers annually, significantly reducing congestion and enhancing traveller experience. Modern amenities and expanded capacity are expected to give a major boost to tourism and regional connectivity in Bihar.

Alongside the Patna terminal, Modi laid the foundation stone for a ₹1,410 crore civil enclave at Bihta Airport, aimed at serving the fast-growing educational and institutional hub that includes IIT Patna and a proposed NIT campus. This move reflects a broader strategy to future-proof Bihar’s aviation infrastructure.

The visit also saw the launch of infrastructure projects worth over ₹48,520 crore, most notably the ₹29,930 crore Stage II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district. Expected to generate 3×800 MW, this power plant will bolster energy security, spur industrial growth and create local employment. Public enthusiasm was palpable as thousands lined the streets during a spirited roadshow in Patna.
