Mysuru Railway Division Partners with Local Industries to Drive Freight Growth

Date:

The Mysuru Railway Division, under South Western Railway, is actively courting local industries and logistics players to boost freight volumes. Positioned strategically near key manufacturing zones such as Nanjangud and Belawadi, Mysuru offers competitive advantages in connectivity, handling capacity and multimodal support, including proximity to highways and the upcoming Bidar–Mysore Industrial Corridor.

Recognizing these strengths, railway officials are engaging with businesses spanning automotive, textiles, food processing and IT to develop dedicated freight terminals, rake-sharing solutions and last-mile transport facilities. The division is also leveraging its “Digital Division” initiative to streamline operations, digitising scheduling, cargo tracking and documentation, aimed at reducing dwell times and enhancing reliability.

These efforts align with India’s broader push to shift more cargo onto rail via Dedicated Freight Corridors (DFCs), which have already increased volume by over 140% on some routes. By integrating digital logistics solutions and targeting industrial clusters, Mysuru aims to capitalize on this national momentum and significance.
