Maharashtra Approves ₹931 Cr for Construction of Bhandara–Gadchiroli Expressway

Date:

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved funding of ₹931.15 crore for the construction of the Bhandara–Gadchiroli Access Controlled Super Communication Expressway.

The 94.241 km four-lane greenfield corridor will be executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) and connected to the Mumbai–Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway, strengthening road infrastructure across Vidarbha.

Officials said the alignment will pass through more than 60 villages in five talukas of Nagpur, Bhandara, and Chandrapur districts. “This project will reduce road distance by 23 km and cut travel time between Gadchiroli, Bhandara, and onward towards Nagpur and Mumbai,” a senior official noted.

The expressway aims to boost socio-economic growth by improving logistics, facilitating trade, supporting agriculture, and promoting tourism in underconnected regions. It will also integrate nearby towns into Maharashtra’s broader expressway network, creating new opportunities for investment and development.

Earlier, MSRDC had invited bids for the first segment (BG-01), valued at ₹1,854.16 crore, which attracted participation from four bidders. The project is expected to play a key role in bridging connectivity gaps and accelerating progress in eastern Maharashtra.
