Karnataka has achieved a major milestone with the successful load test of its longest cable-stayed bridge over the Sharavathi River in Sagar Taluk. Spanning 2.14 kilometers and costing ₹456.67 crore, this bridge connects Holebagilu and Kalasavalli, marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity.
The bridge underwent a rigorous load test, during which 100 tonnes of truckloads were positioned on it. The structure showed only a 22 mm deviation, well within the permitted 38 mm and returned to its original position once the load was removed, confirming its durability and the quality of construction.
This engineering marvel not only facilitates smoother transportation but also stands as a testament to the state’s commitment to infrastructure development. The bridge’s completion is poised to boost local economies and improve the daily lives of residents.
We commend the engineers, workers and officials whose dedication made this project a reality. Their efforts have paved the way for a brighter, more connected future for Karnataka.
