Industrial Areas in Mysuru Struggle with Poor Infrastructure, Hampering Growth

Date:

Industrial areas in Mysuru continue to face serious infrastructure deficiencies, raising concerns among industry stakeholders about productivity, safety, and long-term investment prospects. Despite Mysuru’s growing reputation as an emerging industrial and manufacturing centre, several industrial estates are struggling with inadequate basic facilities.

Entrepreneurs operating in these areas point to poor road conditions, insufficient drainage, erratic power supply, and lack of proper street lighting as persistent challenges. During the monsoon, waterlogging and damaged internal roads disrupt the movement of goods and workforce, increasing operational costs for small and medium enterprises.

Industrialists have also highlighted issues related to waste management, limited public transport connectivity, and inadequate water supply, which affect both business operations and worker welfare. Many believe that these gaps undermine Mysuru’s competitiveness compared to better-equipped industrial hubs in other parts of Karnataka.

Officials acknowledge the concerns and say proposals for infrastructure upgrades have been discussed, including road resurfacing, improved drainage, and better utility provisioning. However, industry bodies argue that implementation has been slow and lacks a clear timeline.

Experts warn that unless basic infrastructure issues are addressed urgently, Mysuru risks losing potential investments to neighbouring regions. Strengthening industrial infrastructure, they say, is essential not only for economic growth but also for job creation and balanced regional development.
