Indian Construction Major Enters Retail-Tech Space with Launch of Matelio

Date:

In a strategic diversification move, an Indian construction firm has unveiled Matelio, a new retail-tech platform aimed at transforming the way building materials are sourced and sold across the country.

Matelio is designed as a digital marketplace that connects manufacturers, suppliers, and retailers directly with contractors, builders, and individual buyers. The platform will offer a wide range of construction-related products, including cement, steel, tiles, sanitaryware, and electrical fittings, with real-time pricing, availability checks, and doorstep delivery.

According to company officials, the initiative addresses long-standing inefficiencies in the construction materials supply chain, such as price opacity, logistical delays, and lack of standardised quality verification. By leveraging technology, Matelio aims to streamline procurement, improve cost transparency, and reduce project delays for both large-scale developers and small contractors.

The firm plans to integrate AI-driven demand forecasting and digital payment solutions into the platform, along with loyalty benefits for regular buyers. The launch also marks the company’s entry into India’s fast-growing construction e-commerce segment, which is expected to see double-digit growth in the next five years.
