At the AEC Forum 2025, Major General Sameer Srivastava of the Indian Army outlined the force’s ambitious mission to create future-ready, resilient and sustainable infrastructure. This vision goes beyond traditional construction, transforming military facilities into a force multiplier for national security. The Army’s plans encompass a wide range of projects, from high-altitude border installations to modern cantonments and advanced training hubs.
The core of this initiative involves leveraging modern technologies and sustainable practices. The Army is exploring the use of Building Information Modeling (BIM), the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital twins to ensure projects are not only fiscally disciplined but also future-proof. Initiatives like net-zero cantonments and the use of geothermal systems are being implemented to reduce environmental impact and dependence on conventional energy sources. This strategic push reflects a commitment to operational readiness in extreme terrains and aligns with the broader national vision of a self-reliant and developed India by 2047.
