Google Unveils ‘Ananta’ in Bengaluru: A Fusion of AI and Sustainable Construction

Date:

Google inaugurated its largest campus in India—Ananta, meaning “infinite” in Sanskrit—located in Mahadevapura, Bengaluru. With a seating capacity of over 5,000, Ananta is among Google’s largest campuses globally. Constructed using locally sourced materials, the campus emphasizes accessibility and sustainability.

“Ananta will be known for innovations powered by India but for the world,” stated Preeti Lobana, Google India’s vice president and country manager. She highlighted Google’s AI-first approach, positioning India as both a talent hub and a testing ground for scalable AI solutions. Anand Rangarajan, vice president at Google DeepMind, emphasized Ananta’s role in driving digital transformation and solving complex challenges.

The eco-friendly campus incorporates water recycling, rainwater harvesting, and power-saving smart photochromic glass. Designed to foster collaboration and well-being, Ananta features a gym, daycare, cafeteria, and a mini forest named Aranya. With over 10,000 employees across India, Google operates in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Gurugram, following a hybrid work model. Ananta stands as a testament to Google’s commitment to AI-driven innovation and sustainable construction, shaping India’s digital future while minimizing its environmental footprint.
