Gujarat Industries Power Company (GIPCL) has achieved a significant milestone in the renewable energy sector by successfully commissioning the final 135 MW phase of its solar power project in Khavda, Gujarat. With this latest addition, the project has reached its full operational capacity of 600 MW, marking a major step forward for the state’s green energy infrastructure.
This new capacity forms a critical part of the larger 2,375 MW Renewable Energy Park located at Khavda. As a joint venture promoted by Gujarat State Fertilizers and Chemicals (GSFC), Gujarat Alkalies and Chemicals (GACL), and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL), GIPCL remains at the forefront of Gujarat’s energy transition.
The successful commissioning aligns with the company’s ambitious expansion strategy. In January 2024, GIPCL signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Gujarat to develop the 2,375 MW capacity at Khavda and an additional 1,100 MW of solar projects in Gandhinagar. Supported by an allocation of 4,750 hectares of land, the company is poised to develop a comprehensive hybrid energy park featuring solar, wind, and hybrid solutions, further cementing its role in achieving the region’s renewable energy targets.
