EcoYou Turns 22 MT of Agro‑Waste into EcoBoard, Fuels $240 Million Rural Transformation

Date:

EcoYou—an eco‑initiative by Ecoboard Industries Limited—has successfully converted 22 million tonnes of agricultural waste into EcoBoard, a sustainable alternative to plywood and MDF. These EcoBoards, crafted from natural fibers such as wheat straw, rice husk, cotton stalk, coconut husk, and sugarcane bagasse, are finding use in partitions, ceilings, flooring, and furniture—offering both environmental and functional benefits.

The initiative has prevented approximately 116 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions by reducing crop burning and deforestation, and saved over 10 million trees that would have otherwise been felled for wood. By sourcing raw material directly from farmers, EcoYou has injected USD 24 million into rural supply chains. Overall, the project has generated a cumulative $240 million in rural impact—boosting local employment, and benefiting farmers, artisans, and carpenters.

EcoYou’s EcoEnergy division enhances this circular model by converting industrial residues and effluents into clean biogas using Sulzer-based CSTR systems. With over 125 large-scale biogas projects deployed globally, the company has rolled out a production capacity of 2.5 million m³ and helped avoid 0.5 million tonnes of coal annually.

EcoYou’s sustainable, low-emission production—powered by renewable energy—has also begun exporting EcoBoards to Europe. With ambitious plans to scale capacity, forge partnerships with architects and regulators, and further green the building sector, EcoYou is setting new standards for ESG-driven innovation in India.
