Central Team to Assess Future City–Bandar Port Greenfield Road Project

Date:

In a significant development, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has urged Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to approve the construction of a 12-lane greenfield road connecting Bharat Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati. This proposed route aims to facilitate direct transportation of goods from Hyderabad to the port, addressing the logistical challenges faced by Telangana due to the absence of a seaport.

During a meeting in New Delhi, Chief Minister Reddy reminded Minister Gadkari of the commitment made in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014, to develop a greenfield road network linking the capital cities of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The proposed road would span 118 km in Telangana and the remaining distance in Andhra Pradesh.

In response, Minister Gadkari assured that a central team would visit Hyderabad to assess the feasibility of the project. Additionally, a review meeting with officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is scheduled for September 22 in Hyderabad to discuss the project’s progress.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the near-completion of land acquisition for the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (North) and sought expedited approvals for both the northern and southern corridors to alleviate traffic congestion. Furthermore, discussions were held regarding the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor on the Mannanur-Srisailam road, which falls within the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, to improve connectivity to Krishnapatnam port and other regions in Andhra Pradesh.

Minister Gadkari has assured that permissions for the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) works, amounting to ₹868 crore, will be granted within a week, facilitating the timely execution of these critical infrastructure projects.
