Building Material Dumping Chokes Deo Nagar’s Internal Roads

Date:

Residents of Deo Nagar are raising concerns over construction and building materials clogging internal roads, causing traffic disruption, safety hazards, and inconvenience to daily commuters. Piles of sand, bricks, metal rods, and construction debris have reportedly been dumped along narrow lanes, leaving little space for vehicles and pedestrians.

Locals say the problem has intensified with increased construction activity in the area, while enforcement has remained weak. Emergency vehicles, school buses, and two-wheelers often struggle to pass through congested stretches, particularly during peak hours. Pedestrians, including children and senior citizens, are forced to walk on the road due to blocked footpaths, increasing the risk of accidents.

Residents have also highlighted issues of dust pollution and debris spilling onto the carriageway, especially during windy conditions. During the monsoon, accumulated material worsens waterlogging and damages already-stressed road surfaces.

Civic officials acknowledged receiving complaints and said action would be taken against violators storing materials without permission. As per municipal rules, construction material must be stored within private premises or designated areas and only for a limited duration.

Community members are urging stricter enforcement, time-bound permissions, and penalties to restore road safety and accessibility. They argue that balancing development with basic civic order is essential to maintain liveability in residential neighbourhoods like Deo Nagar.
