Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd. has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major contract awarded by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) in Tamil Nadu. The state-owned construction firm secured the bid at a value of ₹386.82 crore.
The contract covers the construction of balance of plant (BoP) buildings and associated structures for Units 5 and 6 of the project. This includes comprehensive civil, structural, and related works that are crucial to supporting the smooth functioning of the upcoming nuclear units. BoP facilities play an essential role in ensuring operational readiness, safety compliance, and integration with the main nuclear systems.
The Kudankulam project, located in Tirunelveli district, is India’s largest nuclear power station, developed in collaboration with Russia. Units 1 and 2 are already operational, while Units 3 to 6 are under different stages of construction.
This contract award underscores India’s continued investment in nuclear energy to bolster long-term energy security and sustainable infrastructure. For Tamil Nadu, the expansion of KKNPP is expected to strengthen the state’s power supply, supporting industrial growth and regional development.
