Bentley Systems has announced a major push into AI for infrastructure, launching new tools and a co-innovation initiative aimed at transforming engineering and construction workflows.
AI adoption in infrastructure is accelerating. In recent submissions to Bentley’s “Going Digital Awards,” nearly one in three projects integrated AI, and among finalists, that number rose to nearly half. A global survey conducted with key industry partners revealed that about 50% of infrastructure professionals are already piloting or using AI solutions, with more planning to scale.
Bentley’s latest portfolio expands its AI capabilities across substation design, construction management, and infrastructure operations. Highlights include OpenUtilities Substation+, an AI-powered collaborative design tool entering early access in November, and SYNCHRO+, an AI-enhanced construction management platform set for release in December 2025. AI agents for automated annotation in OpenRoads Designer and OpenRail Designer are due in November 2025, with Bentley Copilot integration planned for early 2026.
The company also introduced the Infrastructure AI Co-Innovation Initiative, inviting collaboration with engineering firms and asset owners to develop AI workflows. Emphasizing that AI should empower—not replace—engineers, Bentley is reinforcing user data control and transparency through its new Data Agreement Registry.
