Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has outlined a strong vision to transform the state’s transport system by focusing on electric buses and highway expansion. During a recent review of transport and infrastructure projects, he stressed the need for affordable, efficient and sustainable mobility solutions.
The Chief Minister highlighted that electric buses can significantly reduce operational costs while improving passenger comfort and service reliability. He directed officials to adopt innovative strategies to lower costs further, expand charging infrastructure and standardize battery systems. Plans are also underway to gradually introduce fully air-conditioned electric buses and promote alternative mobility options like e-cycles.
In parallel, the government is prioritizing the expansion and modernization of highways to strengthen connectivity across the state. Improved road networks, especially those linking ports with major highways, are expected to enhance logistics efficiency and support industrial growth. With a large portion of goods transported via road, better infrastructure will help reduce transportation costs and boost economic activity.
The state aims to fast-track ongoing road projects and improve maintenance standards over the next two years. This combined focus on clean transportation and robust infrastructure is expected to position Andhra Pradesh as a forward-looking state, driving both sustainability and economic development.
