Houzz published its 2025 U.S. State of AI in Construction and Design Report, revealing that early adopters of artificial intelligence tools are reaping significant financial benefits. Surveying over 700 industry professionals, the report found that 32 percent of construction and design firms currently leverage AI to automate repetitive tasks, saving an average of more than three hours per week. When extrapolated across staffing and project costs, these productivity gains translate into approximately $170,000 in annual savings per company.
While 74 percent of firms are experimenting with AI in at least one area, only 28 percent have integrated it broadly across business functions. Larger firms—those with ten or more employees—are twice as likely to deploy comprehensive AI solutions, reflecting their capacity to invest in pilot programs and full-scale rollouts. Alon Cohen, co‑founder and CEO of Houzz, commented, “AI innovation in construction is accelerating, creating a competitive edge for firms that embrace it.”
Key applications include automating administrative workflows (47 percent of users), optimizing project and client management (42 percent), and generating high‑quality visual renderings for client presentations. Contractors like Joe Marchionni of Amity Home Maintenance Solutions report using AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Claude AI to draft proposals and marketing content, then refining outputs to fit field‑specific requirements. Despite rapid uptake, over 90 percent of users lack formal AI training, underscoring an urgent need for structured education and best‑practice guidelines to ensure secure implementation and maximize return on investment.
