India Unlocks PM Gati Shakti Portal for Private Sector

Date:

Today, we mark a bold step forward in India’s infrastructure story. The government has opened the PM Gati Shakti portal to the private sector. This means private firms, consultants, researchers and citizens can now access regulated data from the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan to help plan and execute infrastructure projects more effectively.

Launched in October 2021, the PM Gati Shakti initiative aims for integrated planning of critical infrastructure to reduce logistics costs and improve connectivity across modes; rail, road, ports, airports and more. Now, with the ‘PM GatiShakti Public’ platform on the Unified Geospatial Interface, about 230 approved data sets are available, covering highways, rail lines, multi-modal parks, airports, land records and telecom infrastructure.

With this opening, we anticipate private players using these data layers to run site analyses, map connectivity, propose efficient alignments and even check regulatory compliance. In short: better planning, better execution and stronger collaboration between government and business.

The portal also introduces tools like multi-layer geospatial visualization, dashboard reporting and district-level master plans. These will help local infrastructure development in aspirational districts. For private sector firms, this is an invitation to bring their ideas, technology and ambition into public planning; turning macro vision into micro action.

We see this move as constructive and hopeful. When the private and public sectors unite on the same data platform, innovation and accountability rise. Citizens stand to gain through faster delivery, smarter investments and stronger infrastructure. India’s journey toward seamless connectivity just got a powerful ally.
