In a major infrastructure push, the Maharashtra Cabinet has greenlit a 105-km freight corridor connecting the upcoming Vadhavan Port in Palghar to the Mumbai-Nagpur Samruddhi Expressway at Bharveer in Nashik. Estimated at ₹4,029 crore, the logistics project will be executed by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), with funding from a ₹1,500 crore HUDCO loan and ₹2,529 crore from state provisions. The corridor is slated for completion in three years.
This strategic freight link is expected to significantly enhance warehousing and logistics efficiency by reducing the current 82 km detour from the Samruddhi Expressway. The distance between Tawa Bharveer and the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway will shrink from 183.48 km to 104.89 km, cutting travel time from 4–5 hours to just 1–1.5 hours.
Crucial to Maharashtra’s construction and industrial growth, the corridor will traverse through Palghar and Nashik, supporting regional industries, IT zones, agro-industrial hubs, and export-import logistics. Officials assert it will generate employment, lower transport costs, and streamline connectivity for the upcoming Vadhavan Transshipment Port, making it a vital artery in India’s logistics and construction network.
