Government Orders Comprehensive School Infrastructure Inspection in Ghaziabad Amid Safety Fears

Date:

The Basic Education Department in Ghaziabad has issued an urgent directive mandating thorough inspections of all school buildings across the district following safety concerns sparked by a recent incident in Noida. Block Education Officers have been tasked with submitting detailed reports on structural integrity—covering washrooms, laboratories, fire safety systems, ceiling stability, staircases and more.

The move comes after plaster falling on a student triggered alarm among parents and teachers over the deteriorating conditions of government-run schools. Educators highlighted chronic issues such as cracked ceilings, water seepage, and broken stairways, emphasizing that years of underfunding and a lack of routine inspections have left buildings vulnerable.

District BSA OP Yadav stressed that ensuring adherence to safety norms has become a top priority. Principals have been ordered to verify that emergency exits, fire extinguishers, clean facilities, and proper ventilation are in place before classes resume. The inspections aim to preempt further accidents and create safer learning environments.

Parents, teachers, and district authorities have welcomed the directive, calling it a long-overdue step toward addressing structural neglect and safeguarding students. With inspections underway, the administration is expected to take swift corrective action where hazards are identified.
