Guwahati Municipal Corporation Fines Resident ₹5,000 for Obstructing Road with Construction Materials

Date:

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has imposed a ₹5,000 fine on a resident of Gauburah Path for illegally storing construction materials on a public road. This penalty is part of GMC’s ongoing efforts to maintain public cleanliness and ensure unobstructed movement for pedestrians and vehicles.

GMC officials have reiterated that public spaces are not to be used for storing construction items, which not only hinder mobility but also contribute to dust pollution and safety hazards. Residents and contractors are urged to adhere strictly to guidelines and utilize private or designated areas for storing materials during construction or renovation work.

This action aligns with GMC’s broader initiative to enforce civic norms and prevent the misuse of public spaces, ensuring a cleaner and safer environment for all.
