Cabinet Approves Rs 7,000 Crore Infrastructure Projects in Maharashtra, MP and Andhra

Date:

On May 28, 2025, the Union Cabinet approved infrastructure projects exceeding ₹7,000 crore across Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Andhra Pradesh, aiming to enhance connectivity and stimulate regional economic growth.

In Andhra Pradesh, a ₹3,653 crore initiative will develop a 108 km four-lane corridor between Badvel and Nellore on National Highway 67. This project, under the design-build-finance-operate-transfer (DBFOT) model, will link key industrial nodes—Kopparthy, Orvakal, and Krishnapatnam—across three major industrial corridors. The corridor is expected to reduce the distance to Krishnapatnam port by 34 km, cutting travel time by an hour and lowering vehicle operating costs and carbon emissions.

In Madhya Pradesh, the Cabinet sanctioned a ₹1,018 crore project to add third and fourth railway lines over a 41 km stretch between Ratlam and Nagda. This enhancement will alleviate congestion on a vital junction connecting northern, southern, eastern, and western regions, thereby improving freight and passenger movement.

Maharashtra will see the addition of a fourth railway line between Wardha and Ballarshah, as part of a combined ₹3,399 crore investment in multi-tracking projects across both states. These upgrades aim to reduce bottlenecks, facilitate the transport of goods like coal and cement, and support nearly 19.74 lakh people across 784 villages. The projects are projected to generate 74 lakh human-days of employment during construction and handle an additional 18.40 million tonnes of freight annually.

These initiatives align with the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan, reflecting the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and fostering sustainable economic development.
